What can users see on their dashboards?
The factors that decide which records appear on a user's dashboard
The short answer
What appears on a user's dashboard depends on several factors: the records they have access to, the filters applied to the dashboard and its widgets, and any filters the user has applied themselves. Because of this, two users looking at the same dashboard may see different data.
What determines what you see
1. Record access (permissions)
- Users only ever see records they have read access to.
- This means two users looking at the same dashboard may see different data, depending on their permissions.
2. Dashboard and widget filters
- Dashboards and widgets, such as charts and tables, may have filters applied.
- The records displayed reflect these filter conditions.
3. User-applied filters
- Users can apply additional filters on top of the existing ones.
- These extra filters further affect which records appear on their dashboards and widgets.
