Why can't I mass edit records?

The two access levels you need to mass edit, and what to do if you are missing one

The short answer

To mass edit records, you need both mass-edit access and update access. If you are missing one, mass edit will not work:

  • If you can edit individual records but not mass-edit them, you will see a small prohibition sign next to your mouse cursor. This means you do not have mass-edit access.
  • If you can select the checkboxes but receive an error when you click Mass edit, you have mass-edit access but not update access.
The prohibition sign shown next to the cursor when you do not have mass-edit access.

A prohibition sign by the cursor indicates you lack mass-edit access.

What to do: Reach out to your System Administrator to discuss which Security Groups you need. Both mass-edit and update access are required.
